Thank you for the info! 1) Would it be possible to change the RF attenuation choices from 20,40,60 to something smaller (for example: 5,10,15) by altering the internal electronics associated with that switch? 2) How does the RF-1000 compare to the later RF-2000? 3) Why did you do a video on it when you usually prefer tube radios? 4) What frequencies does it cover? Etc.

Maybe I missed it but I didn't hear you mention the ground connection. It is just as important as the long antenna wire. either a water pipe or an AC socket ground prong.

I was playing with the same 3 pin chip years ago, with about a 14 turn "spider Web" coil and got very good Short Wave reception. They are only supposed to go to 2MHz, but I was getting 7MHz. I'm sure it was getting regenerative (oscillating) The chip will drive a 200 Ohm hearing aid receiver with no AF amp. Very Cool.

You were supposed to set this up, plug it in, turn it on and listen from a chair, not go trying to interact with things inside it to make it play 'better' while its on. Thats why nowadays there is a warning something has no user serviceable parts so do not open
The NB (noise blanker) button only works to quiet localized ELECTRICAL interference. This interference is rarely a problem. Don't confuse electrical interference with the normal noise present in short wave. My NB button, too, appears to do nothing.
I've just just purchased one from eBay and I paid $400 Australian for it. And I just won an eBay auction for a yaesu Frg-7000 which comes with the original manual for $380 Australian and both are in very good working condition

Mine has the 12v input on the back of mine. My NB button does not seem to work. Any ideas what I should do?
